Special Needs


BEP in partnership with World Education established two units for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and continues to support them providing  equipment and stipends for teachers.

• SEN unit Tham Hinn Karen Refugee Camp
• SEN unit Ban Don Yang Karen Refugee Camp

The objectives of this project are to provide education for children with learning difficulties, improve the skills of the parents and teachers and to raise community awareness regarding the rights of children with Special Needs. The project is implemented by the Karen Women's Organisation [KWO]. It provides education for 312 pupils in Tham Hinn and a further 88 in Ban Don Yang Camp

In addition BEP has provided braillers for teachers working with the visually impaired.
